Let's Make Movies - Using Video to reach the YouTube generation

Do you want to give your students an exciting and creative skillset to show what they know, artistically create and maybe even entertain audiences using an avenue that can provide active and engaged learning, differentiation, collaboration and real world application? This session highlights the video editing platform WeVideo and will provide examples of how teachers and media specialists have worked together on engaging lessons. Student samples will be shared, and we will discuss how video lessons created in WeVideo have been successfully used to teach digital citizenship lessons asynchronously in 2020-2021. Participants should leave with ideas and resources to start using video right away with their students and maybe get a few ideas to spice up any videos they are sending out for their students during this time of virtual learning.

WeVideo

Take your videos to a whole new level! WeVideo subscriptions give you the opportunity to take a boring video presentation and add flair! Bring in arrows, flashes, and more to draw the viewer’s attention to something you want to emphasize. Use templates that are already mostly complete and all you have to do is drop in some pictures or short video clips, save and share! Give your students an exit ticket unlike anything their other teachers are using. Best of all, teach your students how to use WeVideo and watch them blossom before your eyes! They will show you what they know in a very creative and unique way. Best of all they’ll teach you how to make your videos better, too. How do you think I learned so much?
